“Welc-home”, the mural of welcome by Cristian Sonda
The mural inaugurated last July 7th in the railway underpass of via Caduti della Libertà in Cormano, was born as part of the "Welc-home" project from the collaboration between: the street artist Cristian Sonda, the Municipality of Cormano, the lower secondary school Rodari di Cormano, the parents' association Asso.Ge.Co. of the I.C. “25 April” of Cormano, the “Telling Stories” Association, Pro Loco Cormano, Industria Maimeri and ASACERT. Symbolically donated to the citizens, the "Welcome Murals" tells the story of the protagonist boy who leaves his country to arrive in Europe on a boat. The work translates into images, with strong and decisive colors and a very powerful visual impact, the intangible dimension of the pain and anguish towards tomorrow that grips those, like the protagonist, who are unable to see a future. The story takes shape as you cross the cycle/pedestrian walkway, catapulting those who follow the plot into a story full of pathos and anticipation. A story of migration, suffering and hope: the child, following the swallows that migrate north, dangerously crosses the sea, until he lands, having become a man, in a land to call "my home", which welcomes him in an embrace full of humanity. ASACERT, whose headquarters is located just a few steps from the work, is pleased to have made a contribution, collaborating in the creation of an important territorial initiative that looks to the future, while demonstrating interest and participation in today's problems, and acting as spokesperson of the values of the community of which he is part.
