Gioia 22, Milan

DETAILS OF THE WORK

ASACERT was commissioned to carry out the technical control of the facades and windows of Gioia 22: the “sliver of glass” that will break into the Milanese skyline, on the rubble of the old INPS building. The tower designed by architect Gregg Jones, of the Pelli Clarke Pelli studio, represents the first Nearly Zero Energy Consumption Building tower in Italy.

The strategic importance of the windows is an element of excellence of the entire project, which allows the building to rank among the best practices in sustainable construction. ASACERT’s methodological approach is the result of consolidated inspection experiences, carried out on a wide variety of buildings and works, located in Italy and abroad. Significant experiences, which have allowed the qualified and always up-to-date ASACERT technicians to consolidate and demonstrate their ability, competing with complex and high-performance facade systems from a qualitative and energy point of view.

The building consists of 30 floors, 4 of which are underground, for a total of 68,432 gross m2, 11,400 m2 of parking and 6000 m2 of photovoltaic panels. The use of the building is tertiary, with part of commercial and exhibition spaces and recreational areas serving the offices.

The sliver of glass boasts a groundwater system, useful for heating and cooling, thanks to the Free Cooling approach, which favors the internal-external circulation of natural air, thus allowing the refrigeration unit to be completely eliminated.

SERVICE

ASACERT was assigned the task of carrying out technical checks on the building’s windows, which make up its external facades.

The Technical Control activity is developed through verification:

  • the conformity of the works with the project requirements and applicable regulations;
  • the adequacy of the materials used and their certifications;
  • the conformity of the works with the rules of good executive practice.

This activity will be carried out by established technicians with many years of experience in the specific sectors of intervention, capable of developing even articulated and complex services, through adequately sized and structured work groups, both from the point of view of professional skills and staff. .

At the end of the inspection activities, ASACERT will be able to express an opinion on what has been analyzed through the release of the regular Final Inspection Report.
