Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) Certification.
The Recovery and Resilience Device (EU Regulation 241/2021) stipulates that all measures in National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRPs) must meet the principle of “do no significant harm to environmental objectives” (Do No Significant Harm). This constraint translates into an assessment of compliance of interventions with the DNSH principle, with reference to the taxonomy system of eco-sustainable activities indicated in Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2020/852. Every organization and economic activity, regardless of its sector, size and specific goals, is required to implement measures according to DNSH principles and contribute to ecosystem protection.
An activity or project of an organization is defined as “harmful” when it causes:
- Important greenhouse gas emissions;
- The ‘exacerbation of adverse effects on current and future climate, on the same or on people, nature or assets;
- Damage to the good status or good ecological potential of water bodies;
- Inefficiencies in material use or direct/indirect use of natural resources
- Significant increase in waste generation, incineration, or disposal, or in emissions of pollutants into the air, water, or soil;
- Significant and long-term damage to the environment from waste disposal;
- Significant damage to the good condition and resilience of ecosystems or to the conservation status of habitats and species, including those of EU interest.
Adopt Certification “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) contributes to conscious and focused action toward compliance of business processes with current regulations and related to the taxonomy system contained in EU regulations, but it also, and more importantly, results in business actions with minimal impact on the environment. ASACERT will verify the consistency of interventions and projects with the principles defined by DNSH, issuing evidence of compatibility with them
