Commercial port of Salerno

DETAILS OF THE WORK

Salerno’s commercial port, “Molo Manfredi,” is one of the nation’s largest ports and plays a strategic role in the industrial and commercial system of the Central-South. Thanks to substantial infrastructure investment, favorable geographic location and efficient port management, it has established itself in the Italian port business to the point of becoming a key node for international connections; in fact, direct and feeder services depart from here to America, the United Kingdom, Africa, Malta, the Far East and Australia.

The needs of a tourist city such as Salerno have also necessitated the use of a piece of the commercial harbor for tourism purposes; in fact, Manfredi Pier welcomes large cruise ships, has a maritime station, and sees departures and arrivals of scheduled ferries. The intervention for which ASACERT carried out the Technical Inspection included the implementation of the static consolidation and strengthening of the entire quay front of the West Trapezius Pier, the Head and the Ligea quay at the root of Pier Three January.

SERVICE

As a result of verifications conducted both on the design documentation and on the construction site, ASACERT technicians expressed a positive opinion with reference to the stability and mechanical strength of the parts of the work under inspection.
