CE marking steel and aluminum

As of July 1, 2014, the placing on the market of steel and aluminum structures, which fall within the scope of UNI EN 1090-1 (Execution of Steel and Aluminum Structures-Part 1: Requirements for Conformity Assessment of Structural Components), must comply with the CE marking requirement, as per Regulation (EU) No.305/2011 On construction products.

The harmonized standard EN 1090-1 specifies the requirements for conformity assessment of the design and fabrication of structural steel and aluminum elements used in steel and mixed (concrete+steel) structure constructions, and in particular of elements, which can be used directly in the works or be incorporated into the works after being assembled (ref. mass and non-series productions, including kits). In order to comply with the requirements of the legislative provisions, the companies concerned will have to carry out initial type testing (ITT) on products to be placed on the market with CE marking and implement factory production control (FPC), for the purpose of obtaining the relevant Certification according to UNI EN 1090-1, issued by a CPR Notified Body, such as ASACERT.

ASACERT, Notified Body (No. 2021), obtained the qualification from the Ministries of Infrastructure and Transport, Economic Development and Interior to issue the Factory Production Control Certification (FPC), in accordance with EN 1090-1, which is essential for obtaining CE marking of steel and aluminum structural components. It is therefore configured as a reference partner for companies operating in the metal carpentry sector, being able to issue Production Control Certification (FPC) and also cover certification services related to the latter (Certifications according to UNI EN ISO 3834 and UNI EN ISO 9001).
