The CE symbol means “Conformité Européenne,” and indicates that the product on which it is affixed complies with the essential requirements of European Directives for marketing and use in the European Union. On April 4, 2011, Regulation (EU) 305/2011, laying down harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products and fully repealing the old Directive 89/106/EEC (known as CPD)., after more than two decades of controversial and debated implementation.

As of July 1, 2013, the implementation of the Construction Product Regulation (CPR) became mandatory. The Regulations variously involve all technical and economic players in the industry.

TWO RELEVANT NEW FEATURES

the Declaration of Performance (DoP)

The Declaration of Performance replaces the EC Declaration of Conformity and is structured with a better definition of the product and the addition of the performance that the company must declare in accordance with the harmonized standard specifies the seventh requirement “Sustainable use of natural resources.” The requirement “Sustainable use of natural resources,” which requires reuse or recyclability of construction works, their materials and parts after demolition, durability of construction works, and use of environmentally friendly raw and secondary materials, is not applicable to date, as the harmonized standards defining the characteristics of a construction product according to this requirement are not yet available. On June 25, 2013, ASACERT’s notification was published on the European Commission’s NANDO website.
