    Business City Rome Fiumicino Airport

    DETAILS OF THE WORK

    ASACERT – on behalf of Aeroporti di Roma S.p.a. – is carrying out the technical assistance service for LEED® certification with Gold level and advanced commissioning on the casing and plant systems for the construction of Business City, Leonardo da Vinci Airport.

    Business City – the new innovative and multifunctional intermodal hub of Rome Fiumicino Airport – will be built next to the Leonardo da Vinci terminal and will act as an attractive hub for Italian and international companies and professionals. It will be equipped with services, offices and spaces designed to offer maximum flexibility and to meet the needs of eco-friendly construction in step with the most modern construction solutions. The airport city, currently under construction, will consist of seven buildings and three green squares, easily reachable thanks to direct connections with the airport, motorway and railway. The futuristic Business City will host numerous buildings dedicated to offices, conference spaces, retail and catering, for a total of approximately 91,000 m2 which will be flanked by 41,000 m2 of equipped green spaces.

    Business City will host a 1,300-seat conference center, offices and services designed from a sustainable perspective, meeting the highest standards of energy, thermal and acoustic efficiency. The high degree of intermodality and accessibility, combined with the architectural quality of the structures and the presence of large green areas and open spaces integrated with the existing buildings, make the Business City project unique in its kind and totally at the forefront of the infrastructure market airport.

    SERVICE

    The activities that ASACERT is carrying out on behalf of Aeroporti di Roma S.p.a. for the Business City project they consist of two services: Technical assistance for LEED® certification and advanced commissioning on the shell and systems, for a total amount of the works equal to approximately €190,000,000.

    The technical assistance service aimed at achieving LEED® Gold certification, carried out by the ASACERT working group made up of qualified technicians and LEED® AP with many years of experience, involves the execution of the following activities:

    • Pre-certification: preparation of the documentation necessary for the LEED® promotion of the project;
    • Design & Construction Review: drafting of review documents relating to the design and construction phase;
    • Project registration: assistance to the client and interface with USGBCI;
    • LEED® Commissioning: verification and control of performance requirements and project data and drafting of the Commissioning Plan.

    The advanced commissioning activity carried out by ASACERT for Business City will have the aim of analyzing the characteristics of the envelope and plant systems of the structures. The requested documentary and structural verification service will be carried out in order to verify the conformity of the buildings and related systems with the objectives envisaged in the design phase.

    RESULT

    Thanks to the technical assistance for LEED® certification carried out with timely attention and professionalism by ASACERT experts, clients are offered the support and skills necessary to implement the procedures necessary to obtain LEED® Gold level certification.

    Through the advanced commissioning activity it is also possible to carry out a precise and specific quality control on the envelopes and plant systems of the structure.
