Bari - Taranto Railway Line (Bari Mungivacca - Noicattaro Section)

DETAILS OF THE WORK

The company CORSORZIO STABILE EURECA has entrusted ASACERT to carry out the activity of Technical Control in progress in relation to the track-doubling intervention on the Bari – Taranto railway line in the Bari Mungivacca – Noicattaro section precisely from Km 4+450 to Km 15+110, including the burying of the line and of the Triggiano and Capurso stations in an artificial tunnel along the current track, between Km 6+945 and Km 10+920.

The route is about 11 km in total and is planned to be buried in an artificial tunnel between progressions 7+305 and 10+460. The Capurso and Triggiano stations are planned to be buried, and some road underpasses will be built. For the most part, the railway will run in trenches or on embankments of limited height. Finally, in the final section, the existing “Noicattaro” viaduct will be adjusted. The Bari – Taranto railway line today is double-track from Bari Sud – Est station to Bari Mungivacca station, continues single-track to Noicattaro station from where it resumes double-track to Rutigliano station.

The work is intended to improve pedestrian and road mobility without creating any particular problems even during construction. The centrality of the route and the presence of interchange parking lots will also determine the strong attractiveness of the rail service. The design of the new stations (Triggiano and Capurso) also included the upgrading of the conterminous outdoor areas, and was developed with the aim of generating places to serve rail users and residents, as well as to improving urban quality of this central place while respecting the existing urban and architectural context.

The two stations will have similar shapes and materials out of a specific desire to make the railway infrastructure recognizable, as was historically the case when they were first built. In order to reduce the impact on populations and activities, construction site areas have been identified at a distance from population centers.

SERVICE

ASACERT will carry out the in-progress Technical Control service in relation to the intervention on the Bari – Taranto Railway Line precisely on the Bari Mungivacca- Noicattaro section.

Specifically, inspection activities will be carried out on the requirements of stability and mechanical strength of structural elements, including embankments, understood as the prevention of total or partial ruin of the work and serious construction defects, with reference to parts of the work intended by their nature to be long-lasting, provided that they result from defective construction or error in the executive design.
